Originally from North Carolina, Jesse Ragan designs typefaces and lettering independently in Brooklyn, New York. Inspired by the past, Jesse revived the historical craft of punchcutting and investigated its influence on modern typeface design while studying at Rhode Island School of Design. Focused on the present, Jesse builds digital type solutions for a variety of corporate clients, for self-directed projects, and recently for the retail libraries of Font Bureau, House Industries, and Darden Studio. He started his career by contributing to several very popular type families as an in-house designer for Hoefler and Frere-Jones.
