Meredith Kahn launched Made Her Think in 2004. Although Made Her Think began as a series of one-of-a-kind pieces fashioned from vintage pieces that Kahn, a thrift-store devotee, had collected over the years, it soon evolved into an extensive line of costume and semi-precious seasonal collections.

Kahn draws inspiration from the mysterious stories found in vintage pieces, aiming to imbue her own jewelry with a similar sense of hidden meaning. She combines the sweet femininity of roses and swallows with edgy, goth elements such as spikes and skulls to create pieces whose complex symbolism create a mysterious sense of spirituality.

Initially trained in fashion design at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Kahn began her career as a fashion designer for Old Navy. However, Kahn was more personally inspired by the mysterious vintage jewelry she had collected over the years and sought to incorporate these pieces into her designs. Jewelry design seemed the best way to do so.

Kahn works alongside fellow jewelry designer Ivy Maddix, a BFA graduate in metals and jewelry from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Maddix shares Kahn’s love of vintage pieces and the stories they tell, and seeks to use this mysterious quality to create a personal, sentimental relationship between the jewelry and the wearer.

Since launching Made Her Think, Kahn has launched an eponymous line of higher-end jewelry to accompany it. In the future, she would like to further develop the Made Her Think brand, incorporating items such as fragrance or handbags.
